Selection Criteria

Re: Mr Paul Were

Electronics Design Engineer

Dontek Electronics Pty Ltd

In response to the selection criteria outlined for this position:

1.Design circuits and electronic products to ensure all designs are as per recommended standards

As an Electrical and Electronics Engineering student, I completed a lot of courses related to design circuits and electronic products. After I completed these classes, I started to become familiar with the recommended standards for all designs. I successfully completed a final year project at Purdue University. The aim of this project is to design circuits and electronic products for different industry products, such as speakers and cruise control. This project helps me a lot on understanding how to design circuits and electronic products and how to apply theories on industry products’ design

2.Be proficient in writing software in “C”

I have completed lots of courses related to computing and programing. I focused on C programing due to the variety of using it. The MATLAB is coding by C programming, I used C programming frequently and became familiar with it because the MATLAB tools are applied on a lot of design projects and assignments. After I completed a lot of projects and assignments about C programing, I became proficient in writing software by using C programing.

3.Ability to design PCB’s using Altium Designer

I had good experience to use Altium Designer to design PCB’s. I designed a game console during my final year project. This project is designing and drawing the circuit boards by using Altium Designer, then manufacturing the PCB’s from an industry manufacture. Due to the common use of C programing, I wrote a classical snake game on the game console by using C programing. I finally completed this game console with a classical snake game.

4.Be experienced in the integration of “IoT”

I completed an internship at TCL Group Co. Ltd. for 3 months. TCL is a global intelligent product manufacturing and Internet application services enterprise group. During the internship, I gained a lot of experience on the integration of “IoT”.

5.Have experience with EMC design techniques and testing

I was a PCB designer and test engineering for televisions during the internship at TCL. EMC testing is a required process on manufacturing televisions. I had few months’ working experience with EMC design techniques and testing. I became familiar with the EMC design techniques by applying the EMC testing on televisions’ production.

6.Have working knowledge of electrical and product safety standards (LVD, EMC etc.)

I worked as an electrical laboratory assistant and tutor from August 2014 to August 2015. In this position, I became familiar with all the laboratory equipment that is frequently used in the laboratory. I became very familiar with the working knowledge of electrical and product safety standards (LVD, EMC etc.) because it is a basic requirement of working as a laboratory assistant. Safety rules and standards are one of the most important formalities in the laboratory.

7.Must speak fluent English

I am a final-year postgraduate student at University of Melbourne and completed Bachelors Degree of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Purdue University, USA in August 2015. Having studied in America and Australia for a total of six years, I can speak fluent English.
